Gene Hackman

Although Gene Hackman moved many times during his early years, it is San Bernardino County that he originally called home. He was born here in 1930. He has gone on to be one of the most popular actors of the twentieth century. He has starred in iconic films like the French Connection, Bonnie and Clyde, the Conversation, Mississippi Burning, Unforgiven and the Royal Tenenbaums.

Edith Head

Edith Head is one of the most important figures in the history of film. He was born in San Bernardino County in 1897 and learned about fashion and design while working at her father’s haberdashery. She eventually went on to become a prominent costume designer for movie studios. She won eight Academy Awards for her work and was active up until her death in 1981. Among the movies she has designed costumes for include Samson and Delilah, Roman Holiday, Sabrina, the Ten Commandments and the Sting.

Sam Maloof

Sam Maloof was a very unique San Bernardino County furniture designer whose works are on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Smithsonian American Art Museum among other places. He was born in Chino and lived in Alta Loma until his death in 2009. His woodworking skills were heralded as being unique with a strong focus on angles and curves. His work has inspired many furniture companies and has changed the way how chairs and other items for the home are made. The Maloof rocker remains a standard in the woodworking field to this day.

Prince Fielder

Prince Fielder from San Bernardino County California is the son of former baseball star Cecil Fielder, but Prince himself is a big star in his own right. Born in Ontario, he started playing baseball while in San Bernardino County before moving to Florida. But people in San Bernardino County still call him their own to this day. Fielder competed in professional baseball on a major league level from 2005 to 2016, hitting more than 300 home runs during his career.

Anthony Munoz

Anthony Munoz from San Bernardino County is considered to be one of the most important offensive linemen in the history of professional football. Born in Ontario, he went to high school at Ontario Chaffey and eventually went to school at USC. He played with the Cincinnati Bengals football team for thirteen years as an offensive tackle. He is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and has been ranked by the National Football League as the greatest offensive lineman in the league’s history.

Landon Donovan

Landon Donovan has lived in San Bernardino County for much of his life. He was born in Ontario in 1982 and was raised in the town of Redlands on the southwest corner of the county. He started playing soccer in the region as a kid and soon became a popular figure who reached the United States’ U17 team in 1998. He has played professional soccer since 1999 with much of his career spent with the Los Angeles Galaxy and San Jose Earthquakes teams. He has also competed with the United States team in the World Cup a few times. Donovan has long been considered to be one of the greatest American soccer players of all time.
