Have Fun at Castle Park
Bring the family out to Castle Park in Riverside County. The park has an entertaining medieval castle theme. Discover the vast history of the citrus economy in California as you visit Riverside County’s California Citrus State Historic Park. Go around the beautiful early twentieth century-inspired park space and learn how the orange, grapefruit and lemon farms around the state helped create a new boom as the economy changed and the West grew. Discover how the soil in the state is conducive to supporting the growth of this new industry. Watch for some of the antique farm equipment on display around the park. Some of these pieces are still operational and are even used on some of the citrus trees here.
Soar at the March Field Air Museum
Travel out to the March Air Reserve Base in Riverside County not far from Moreno Valley to visit the March Field Air Museum. See many authentic military aircraft on display in this museum that was once run by the Air Force. Look at more than 70 aircraft on display here. See the Boeing B-29A Superfortress planes that flew in World War II plus a Boeing B-52D Stratofortress that was used extensively during the Vietnam War. Go indoors to try your hand at the flight simulator.
See Great Photos from the Past
Get ready to take pictures of some of the intriguing exhibits around Riverside County’s UCR/California Museum of Photography. See artifacts and prints from one of the largest photography collections in the country. These include various old cameras and other bits of photography equipment plus many prints illustrating the evolution of this art form. See the many great photography devices that the museum has acquired over the years. The Riverside County museum has gathered close to 10,000 cameras, film development devices and other items from all eras of photography.
Look at the extensive collection of prints and negatives all around the museum. Look through the thousands of images on display including some daguerreotypes dating back to the mid-nineteenth century. See some of the thousands of negatives prepared by the iconic photographer Ansel Adams.
